Physics tutoring to improve grades and self-confidence
Many students struggle with studying and improving their grades and sometimes it’s not just a matter of method or will. In many cases, low performance in school can be caused by low self-confidence or self-esteem.
Unfortunately, the school system often neglects these two aspects causing both parents and students to underestimate the importance of soft skills in academic success. These issues can be addressed with the help of a private tutor.
Private teachers are often younger than teachers and parents, an aspect that makes it easier for them to connect with their students and help them overcome their problems. Moreover, the attention and time that tutors dedicate to each student will help them value themselves and feel more secure about their abilities.
Every private lesson can be seen as a small rehearsal before going on the stage in school. Some children may find it difficult to speak in front of the whole class and the professor. Talking and repeating what they’ve studied at school with their tutor can help them overcome this anxiety.
There’s no right or wrong way to teach, but all students respond to certain teaching methods differently.
Moreover, teachers in school rarely have time to stop a lesson and repeat the concepts for those who didn’t understand. Private teachers are not part of the traditional school system, which makes it easier for them to explain topics in a different way and to adapt their teaching style to each student. When the student knows that the time of the lesson is entirely dedicated to them, it makes it easier for them to take their time. They’re not afraid to ask questions about new concepts and don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed.
The advantages of studying physics
Physics is the science that studies matter, force and energy, and their motion and behaviour through time and space. The term physics comes from the ancient Greek word physikḗ, which means “knowledge of nature”. Physics studies energy, forces, waves, the atoms’ structure, and all that is related to physical matter.
Studying physics is certainly a challenge, but definitely worth the payoff. Understanding physics better is always helpful, whether your child wants to study it at university or just improve their grades to pass the year. Physics is the foundation of many scientific subjects and is the fundamental area of research to understand the world around us. Studying physics will allow your child to understand the universe from the smallest microparticles to the movements of the stars.
When studying physics in school, many topics are only briefly touched on to give students a general background. As your child continues their studies, they will have the opportunity to specialize in the branches of physics that most interest them and acquire theoretical and practical knowledge that will prove to be invaluable in numerous professional fields.
Studying physics will not only help your child understand the world better but also develop their personal skills. In fact, being able to work in a team and communicate effectively with others are fundamental elements of scientific research. Whether your child wants to improve their grades in physics or learn the subject from scratch, you're sure to find the support they need from our physics teachers.
Having a degree or some sound knowledge of physics also gives access to a number of different careers and job opportunities. The main jobs related to physics are:
Business analyst
Data analyst
Engineer
Patent attorney
Physicist
Physics researcher
Physics teacher or professor
Programmer
Project manager
Scientist
Studying physics has the potential to give your child access to all of these jobs. It will also provide them with knowledge and a mindset that they’ll be able to use in many different fields.
In fact, following the completion of a bachelor's degree in physics, many people go on to study disciplines such as business, law or medicine. Generally speaking, a technical background in physics is useful in any profession that combines science with another field.
A good example of this is a hedge fund working and investing in promising technologies. In such an environment having a physics background will be highly valuable. Moreover, physics branches are so related to each other that it’s very easy to move from one branch to another. An aspect that will give your child access to a great number of job opportunities.

Physics exam preparation and physics revision classes
Preparing for exams always causes a lot of stress in students and in many cases there is a tendency to procrastinate at the beginning of the study to get away from the problem, resulting only in increased anxiety and poor performance.
This is true for all subjects, but especially for scientific ones such as physics, which are difficult for many people.
If your child is getting ready to sit important exams then now is the right time to get started with one of our friendly and professional tutors and prepare your child well for their exam.
Whether your child is studying for a maths GCSE or A level in England or the National 3,4,5, maths Higher or Advanced Higher in Scotland we have a tutor who knows the curriculum well.
Especially if time is tight, a tutor can help your child quickly learn and internalize the essentials so that they can go to their exam as stress-free as possible and get the grade they want.
Physics tutoring at Degree Level
Those who decide to study physics at university are likely to have studied physics and mathematics at A-Level. In some cases, they also have other advanced qualifications in mathematics, such as statistics. Those who decide to study physics at a higher level will graduate after 3 or 4 years with a Bachelor of Science (BSc).
Upon the completion of a physics degree, students have the option to continue for another two years to earn a Master of Physics (MPhys) or a Master of Science (MSci).
There are two types of Physics degrees: straight physics and theoretical physics.
The two types usually cover the same topics but in a different way, in fact, straight physics tends to include more practical physics work. Theoretical physics has more theoretical content focused on calculus and mathematics.
The way the two types of physics are approached also depends a lot on the university. In fact, in some institutions the first two years of study are identical for theoretical physics and straight physics. The differences come in the third year when theoretical physicists focus on developing theoretical models and straight physics students will continue with lab sessions.
Some of the modules covered by mostly all physics degrees are:
electromagnetism and optics
computational physics
Newtonian and relativistic mechanics
laboratory physics
mathematical techniques
properties of matter.
Degrees in physics also include some elective modules, which are the following:
nuclear astrophysics
cosmology and galaxy formation
medical imaging
fluid dynamics
spacetime and gravity
radiation detectors
advanced quantum mechanics
Especially in the first few years, it can be complicated to find the right balance between the study itself and the amount of work that comes with a physics degree. In this case, it may be essential to seek the help of a tutor.
Our physics degree tutors are extremely knowledgeable about the course content and can also assist with other areas such as study organization. A physics tutor can help your child achieve their goals and get them through their studies with confidence.
